From the art and design to the cuisine, what an incredible first trip to Mexico City. Elena, joined by longtime friend Currie Person of Spartan Shop, explored galleries, restaurants and museums to refuel the creative mind and kick off inspiration for 2019. Completely transported, a few highlights include Roma Norte studio visits, Archivo Diseño y Arquitectura, Casa Azul, Museo Experimental El Eco, and Rivera and Kahlo’s twin houses and studio. On the contemporary side, MASA merges art and design and exhibited in a livable experiential 1970s house. Barragan‘s Casa Prieto Lopez was the showstopper- – his use of raw materials, enormous scale and dramatic use of light – simple but not minimal. Mezcal has never tasted the same since!
