The Collector’s Sitting Room is an ephemeral installation for the Holiday House Wellington. The design illustrates a fresh, modern atmosphere with a hint of the theatrical. Abundant with creative gestures and a confident color palette. Art takes center stage with contemporary works alongside historical, and sculpture with well-formed furnishings. The interior is invigorated by the curation while also evoking a contemplative serene atmosphere.
Dan Christensen’s dramatic Lady Killer, 1978 and brush-stroked The Selector, 1979 strike a contrast with Carmen D’Apollonio’s boldly witty Constantino, 2021. Daniel Arsham’s bronze sculptures add a wild yet contextually suitable facet, Coconut Grove, 3019 (2019) and Gradient Banana Leaf, 2021. The installation illustrates a sense of movement and the energy of a rotating art collection. Paintings are misaligned and a bronze work is cleverly displayed on its shipping crate. Parachute nylon drapery brings an ad hoc sensibility to the carefully crafted space.
