Seven’s a crowd, which means it took a serious overhaul to this classic prewar apartment on the Upper East Side to accommodate a stylish modern family. A systematic layering of patterns and textures drove the design, all punctuated with bold colors. We designed several tailor-made features; including a steel and glass sliding door, graphic angled book shelves, a radical blue dining table and bunk beds for the girls and boys. Each room has a distinct vibe, allowing a slow unveiling of the complex design strategy. What once was a boring white box, now radiates joy and life.
